Javorius Scott, 24, known by his stage as JayDaYoungan, was shot and died in his birthplace of Bogalusa, Louisiana.
The rapper was famous for songs including “23 Island,” “Catch Me in Traffic,” and “Muddy Situation.” According to authorities, Kenyatta Scott, Sr., a close family member, was also hurt in the confrontation.
That evening, just before 6 p.m., police reported a shooting in the 600 block of Superior Avenue. Officers on the scene reported that one person was brought to Our Lady of the Angels Emergency Room.
A second victim, still on the site, was gravely injured and treated on the spot by EMS before being brought to the emergency hospital. The rapper’s death stunned the internet, but it was even more difficult on his partner.
