Randy Travis Net Worth: Randy Travis is an American country music singer who has a net worth of $9 million. Randy Travis was born Randy Bruce Traywick May 4, 1959 in Marshville, North Carolina. He is credited with opening the door for young artists who sought to return to the traditional sound of country music. Even as s a child, he admired the music of legendary country artists Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell and Gene Autry and at the age of 10, he learned to play the guitar. Unfortunately, as a teenager, Randy’s interest in country music was matched only by his increasing experimentation with drugs and alcohol. Estranged from his family, Randy dropped out of school and briefly held a job as a construction worker. Over the next few years, he was arrested several times for assault, breaking and entering and other misdemeanor charges and was on the verge of being sent to prison at 18 years old when he was discovered by Elizabeth Hatcher (or Libby as she was known), who became his legal guardian, manager and later his wife. The two moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1982 to jumpstart Travis’ career. And jumpstart it they did. Hatcher took a job managing the Nashville Palace, a tourist-oriented club near the Grand Ole Opry, while Randy (who for a time performed as Randy Ray) worked as a short-order cook. By 1985, Travis was signed to Warner Bros. where his second release ‘1982’ hit the top 10. Warner then re-released his first single and it hit No. 1. This debut album, entitled Storms of Life, landed at No. 1 on the U.S. albums chart. Travis was on his way to becoming a huge country music star, including becoming a member of the prestigious Grand Ole Opry in 1986. But his addiction issues rose again in 2012 when he was arrested for drunk driving in Texas after wrecking his car and threatening to shoot and kill officers at the scene. In July 2013, Travis was admitted to a Texas hospital and diagnosed with congestive heart failure and suffered a stroke during treatment. The stroke left him unable to speak, let alone sing. As of June 2014, he was still unable to vocalize.
