Ram Charan is a Bollywood actor born March 27, 1985 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Her birth name is Konidela Ram Charan Tej and her parents are Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad (father) and Surekha Konidela (mother). His father is a politician but was also an actor and he is widely known by the stage name ‘Chiranjeevi’. Charan’s family is small; he has two siblings – an older sister named Sushmita and a younger sister named Srija.
Coming for a stable family, he had the privilege of acquiring an education. He had his primary education at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan School, Chennai but did not complete his secondary education which he started at Ooty.
Career
Charan’s acting career started in Tollywood, the arm of Bollywood which produces Telugu language films. He made his debut in 2007 when he made his first appearance in Puri Jagannadh’s film Chirutha where he played the lead role. His character in the film also bore his real name, Charan, and he portrayed an ex-con with a vendetta against the man who killed his father. Although it was his first film, he received two awards – Filmfare’s Best Newbie South Award and the Nandi Special Jury Award – for his outstanding performance in the film.
He continued to appear in various commercial blockbuster films since then and his performances were top notch. He then went to Bollywood where he performed alongside other top Indian movie stars such as Priyanka Chopra. The two stars starred in the action drama film Zanjeer (2013) and which marked Charan’s Bollywood debut.
Family – father, mother, siblings
Ram Charan can deny it and has always sought to carve out a niche for himself (which he has managed to do to some extent), but being the only son of a successful father in a business particular in which you are venturing also has its burden. As already mentioned, Ram Charan’s father is an accomplished Bollywood movie star. Popularly known by his stage name Chiranjeevi, the actor-turned-politician superstar really paved the way for his son to step into the country’s entertainment industry.
He appeared in his first film in 1978 after graduating from Madras Film Institute and working in several cinemas and cinemas. His first film was Punadhirallu (1978) and since then he has featured in around 150 Indian films in an acting career spanning 39 years, where he has always performed multiple roles and showcased his breakdancing prowess.
For his efforts in the industry, he returned home with four Nandi state awards and also received an honorary doctorate from Andhra University. He was awarded India’s third highest civilian honor – Padma Bhushan – in 2006 and recognized as one of the men who brought the Indian film industry – Bollywood – to what it is today. Apart from being a former actor and politician, Chiranjeevi runs a charitable foundation and also has an interest in the Indian Super League (ISL) as he is a co-owner of Kerala Blasters, a football team that plays in the ISL.
Chiranjeevi’s pilgrim in Indian politics saw him form a political party – the Praja Rajyam party – in 2008 and contested the 2009 parliamentary elections as part of his electoral platform. However, he would be elected as a member representing Tirupati constituency in the State Assembly.
Other family members of Ram Charan are his mother, Surekha Konidela, his sisters, Sushmita (older sister) and Srija (younger sister). He has popular uncles named Nagendra Babu, Pawan Kalyan and Allu Aravind and his grandfather is Allu Rama Lingaiah.

Ram Charan is married to an equally popular family in India. The handsome actor was hooked on the market by Upasana Kamineni, whom he had been dating for a long time. The couple were engaged on December 1, 2011 and finally hitched on June 14, 2012 to a farm in Chennai, owned by his wife’s grandfather – Temple Trees Farm House.
Upasana Kamineni’s grandfather is Prathap C. Reddy, Chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group. She is also the editor of B Positive magazine, Hyderabad, and vice-president of one of her grandfather’s growing concerns, Apollo Charity.
