She would go to the local newsagents to collect the daily newspapers and Argentina’s weekly sporting bible that would help her son understand football more closely from his early days.

Rafael Pedro had been a long-time supporter of Rosario Central and wished his son to play for the team.

But instead of playing for his supporting team, Marcelo chose to play for his father’s rival team Newell’s Old Boys.

The reason behind not attended any of his son’s matches was because it was his rival team.

Giving an interview in 1998, he confessed to never having seen his son play and his coaching.

It was not that he did not like football but was a Central fan at the same time preferred football based on less tutelage and pressure.

The topic would be discussed whenever Marcelo would come home and every time he would answer, telling that he needs to train his teams to win.

Maria introduced her brother to his future wife Laura Bracalenti, her fellow architect.
