Rachel Lauren Stevens, an English singer, television personality, actress, and businesswoman, was born on April 9, 1978. Between 1999 to 2003, she was a member of the musical group S Club 7. In September 2003, she released Funky Dory, her debut studio album as a solo artist.
The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) certified the album as gold in October 2003 after it peaked at number nine on the UK album chart. Initially, the album had two singles: “Sweet Dreams My LA Ex,” which climbed to number two in the UK, and “Funky Dory.” Both songs gained silver certification from the BPI.
Following the success of Stevens’ charity single “Some Girls” for Sport Relief in July 2004, Polydor decided to reissue Funky Dory with three additional songs. Her second studio album, Come and Get It, was released in October 2005.
Two of its three singles debuted in the Top 10 while the album’s peak in the UK was at No. 28. After the album’s release, Rachel took a protracted vacation from her music career because it was a commercial failure.
