Her Father Geoff Shenton
Rachel Shenton father Geoff Shenton passed away when she was only 14. According to the actress, she was 12 years old when her father was diagnosed with throat cancer.
The chemotherapy and radiotherapy did treat her father from cancer but it resulted in him being profoundly deaf after the treatment. The owner of a road haulage company though fought bravely with cancer but the loss of hearing caused him to feel vulnerable.
Her father was still lucky as he express his thoughts through his voice. Geoff later also learned to read the lip while speaking with others. Having said that, he would still feel left out during the conversation when more people spoke all of a sudden.
At the age of 69 in 2002, the actress’s father parted away from the Earth. Rachel was only 14 years old at that time. During that time, she had learned British Sign Language.
After her father’s departure, she continued her training in sign language and began volunteering for deaf charities in her spare time.
Although the actress lost her father to his vulnerability, she still has her mother Joy Shenton. From time to time, she posts pictures of her mother for different occasions.
Sometimes she posts her picture wishing her birthday and sometimes she posts pictures on Instagram, just showing her love.

Rachel Shenton is sister to Imogen Clawson’s Jenny in All Creatures Great and Small.
The Academy winner actress commented that her role as Helen’s relationship is a motherly figure to the little sister Jenny. The actress opened up about her role by stating that she likes the relationship between Helen and Jenny more than she has with Imogen in real life.
According to her, Helen played the motherly figure role after Jenny’s mother’s passing. Within season two of the series, the sister’s relationship has changed from siblings to friends.
