Putin Dog: What are Vladimir Putin pets?

Vladimir Putin, Russia’s current president, has seven dogs, four of which he has kept since 2014.

Tosya and Rodeo, the Putin family’s two poodles, were present when Putin took office. After their divorce, they reportedly remained with his ex-wife Lyudmila.

The following are pets the Russian President has ever owned;

Konni (1999–2014)

Konni was a female black Labrador Retriever who lived from 1999 to 2014. Konni was born in the year 1999 and was presented to Putin in December of the same year.

When Putin greeted world leaders during their travels to Russia, Konni was frequently seen by his side and was occasionally allowed to attend discussions.

Buffy (2010–present)

Buffy, a 10-week-old caramel and white Bulgarian shepherd Karakachan dog, was presented to President Vladimir Putin by Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov during a visit to Bulgaria in November 2010. During a nationwide competition, a five-year-old boy chose the name “Buffy.”

Yume (2012–present)

Yume, a 3-month-old female Akita puppy from Tokyo, Japan, came in Moscow in July 2012 as a gift from the Akita Prefecture to express gratitude for Russian support following the 2011 Thoku earthquake and tsunami. In Japanese, the word ‘yume’ means ‘dream.’

Putin was offered a male Akita puppy as a companion for Yume by the Japanese government in 2016, but he declined.

Verni (2017–present)

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, President of Turkmenistan, gave Verni as a birthday present during a meeting in Sochi in October 2017. The puppy is an Alabai, a Turkmen-bred Central Asia shepherd dog variation. In Russian, the word ‘Verni’ means ‘faithful’ or ‘loyal.’

Pasha (2019–present)

During Putin’s official visit to Serbia in January 2019, President Aleksandar Vui gave him an arplaninac puppy named Pasha.
