P!nk was born on September 8, 1979, in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Her real name is Alecia Beth Moore. Her stage name is pronounced “Pink” and is a name she got stuck with after her friends pointed out that she resembles the character “Mr Pink” from the Quentin Tarantino movie, Reservoir Dogs, which she saw as a teenager.
P!nk was, however, raised in Philadelphia and was the second child born to her parents, James and Judy Moore. She has a brother by the name Jason Moore.
As per her educational background, P!nk attended the Central Bucks High School West. Her father was an insurance salesman and Vietnam veteran whiles her mother was an emergency room nurse. However, her parents got divorced when she was just three years old.
P!nk became rebellious following her parents’ separation but later found solace in music. Initially, she spent years as part of the club scene in Philadelphia, singing guest spots and performing for talent shows, however, she started to write her own songs by the age of 14.
P!nk rose to prominence following the success of her debut single, “There You Go” which was released in February 2000. She is currently one of the biggest names in the pop music industry and became the first non-British artist to have won the Brit Award after she was awarded for Outstanding Contribution to British Music in 2019.
