Despite not being selected in the 2017 NBA draft, PJ Dozier joined the Los Angeles Lakers for the NBA Summer League. He later signed with the Dallas Mavericks on August 8, 2017, but was later released on October 14.
But two days later, he agreed to a two-way contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder. According to the terms of the deal, Dozier split his time between the Thunder and its NBA G League team, the Oklahoma City Blue.
Dozier made his NBA debut on February 8, 2018, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers.
On January 11, 2020, Dozier had a game-high 32 points, nine assists, eight rebounds, two steals, and one block in a 120-112 victory over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
In place of the injured Jamal Murray on January 15, Dozier made his Denver debut and scored 12 points. On June 30, 2020, the Denver Nuggets converted his two-way contract into a multi-year NBA deal.
On January 19, 2022, Dozier was acquired by the Boston Celtics as part of a three-team trade that also involved the San Antonio Spurs.
He was sent to the Orlando Magic on February 10, 2022, without ever having taken the court for the Celtics. Dozier’s contract was terminated by Magic following the transaction.
