Pilar Pilapil stable after carjack, stabbing incident

MANILA, Philippines (4th UPDATE) – Veteran actress Pilar Pilapil is now in stable condition after being stabbed by suspected carjackers in Marikina City on Thursday night.

An abs-cbnNEWS.com source said Pilapil is now recovering in a hospital after sustaining several stab wounds.

The source said unidentified men commandeered the vehicle of Rossel Rosalem, Pilapil’s female companion, in Barangay Barangka in Marikina.

“Okay na siya (Pilapil) ngayon. Nagtamo siya ng 7 stab wounds yata ‘yon, pero okay na siya,” the source said.

Police sources said Pilapil and Rosalem were dumped in Antipolo City while the carjackers fled with the vehicle.

A source told abs-cbnNEWS.com that Pilapil was brought to Antipolo Medical Center after a tricycle driver spotted her and Rosalem.

Pilapil met Rosalem at a mall to discuss the latter’s planned donation for the actress’ Pilar Pilapil Foundation.

A report obtained by ABS-CBN News from authorities said the incident took place around 9 p.m. at Riverbanks Center in Barangay Barangka, Marikina.

It said that while the victims were having a conversation inside the car parked at Riverbanks Center, 2 unidentified suspects commandeered the vehicle and brought them to Piedna Blanca, Barangay San Luis in Antipolo City.

The management of Riverbanks Center, meanwhile, denied the incident happened in the mall.

In a letter addressed to ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs, Riverbanks Center Advertising and PR Manager Ching N. Maipid said the alleged abduction of Pilapil did not occur in their establishment yesterday evening.

“We vehemently deny this allegation,” she said. “Based on our security report, no incident of that sort occurred in our premises last night.”

Pilapil sustained stab wounds in different parts of her body. From the Antipolo Medical Center, she was transferred to a Pasig City hospital.

The Medical City in Pasig refused to confirm or deny whether Pilapil is a patient.

“It is our policy to respect all patients’ rights to privacy,” Ann de la Cruz, who is with The Medical City Corporate Communications office, told ABS-CBN News.

Rosalem has since been reported missing.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has created a special task group for the Pilar Pilapil case.

According to CIDG Director Samuel Pagdilao, the task group will be led by Senior Supt. Jigs Coronel of CIDG-National Capital Region.

Included in the task force are the Marikina and Antipolo police, Highway Patrol Group, and a member of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO).

Pilapil’s family and loved ones rushed to the hospital after the shocking incident.

A source of abs-cbnNEWS.com said Pilapil is now with her daughter Pia.

Pia arrived with her children at the hospital where the actress is confined.

Aside from Pia, Pilapil’s friends, like actress-talent manager Annabelle Rama, went to the hospital to show their support.

Other stars like Angel Locsin, Pilapil’s co-star in ABS-CBN’s defunct hit series “Lobo,” took to the microblogging site Twitter to show their concern.

“RT @mondgutierrez: Tita Pilar Pilapil is in critical condition. She’s in hospital now. Let’s pray for her and may justice be served,” Locsin retweeted.

Former ABS-CBN contract star Ruffa Gutierrez tweeted that she spoke to Pilapil and she is now on the road to recovery.

“Spoke to Tita Pilar Pilapil. She’s alive & recovering…Praise GOD! @annabellerama2 is now at her hospital bedside. Let’s pray for her,” Gutierrez said.
