In 1995, he joined Radio Bop, a Mmabatho based radio station, where he was the radio DJ until he quit in 1997. He joined YFM in 1997, where he was a DJ and host of the weekend breakfast show as well as the sales executive for the station.
In 1999, he became the host of the weekdays breakfast show at YFM. He began hosting his own comedy show ‘ The Phat Joe Show’ on the then newly founded television station, e.tv.
In 2001, he left YFM for Metro FM, and ‘The Phat Joe Show’ was moved to SABC 1. In the year 2002, he left Metro FM. His show on SABC 1 aired until 2005. In 2008, he was the host of ‘The Phat Joe Morning Show’ on Kaya FM until 2012. He also joined Heart FM from 2009 until 2012.
