Charge – Arrested
During a Tuesday evening news conference, Polk Sheriff Grady Judd said there was no evidence to show Heneen belonged to any hate groups or that he had any plans to go to Joe Biden’s inauguration in Washington, D.C.
Judd also said Heneen has minor infractions on his record including several traffic accidents, in which he was at fault. He also was reportedly suspended for eight hours for disobeying his commanding officer when he refused to shine his shoes.
Heneen is accused of making threatening comments during a conversation with another deputy via Facebook private messenger on the night of Jan. 6 regarding the riot of Trump supporters who invaded the U.S. Capitol building, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The other deputy turned Heneen in by reporting the threats to his commanding officer.
Heneen has been charged with written threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism, which is a second-degree felony.
Heneen will be eligible for bail following a first appearance before a judge.
Screenshots of the messages distributed by the sheriff’s office show Heneen encouraged his fellow deputy, whom officials did not name, to join Heneen alongside “all the other patriots and militias” in taking “the fight to [the feds].”
“Any cop or military who stands in the way is the enemy,” he wrote. “We all swore an oath[,] And if you violate it you are the same.”
In the messages, Heneen described his belief that the violence was “not over” and expressed his desire for others to target federal officials, which he addressed multiple times as “tyrants.”
“Should have [dragged] those tyrants out into the streets and executed them,” Heneen texted. “Sick of the corruption.”
Judd said Heneen later told his fellow deputy he had a plan to “[expletive] kill them all.”
“I have my [expletive] next to my bed ready to go,” Heneen said in texts, screenshots show. “… I will slit their throats if they touch my family[.] I will make them suffer.”
When the other deputy responded that Heneen was “giving [away] your plans on a traceable app on your phone,” Heneen replied, “Yup they are listening, come get me!!!”
