Conrad Hilton’s net worth, biography, fact, career, awards and life story

Conrad Hilton net worth: Conrad Hilton was an American entrepreneur who had a net worth of $1 billion at the time of his death. Conrad Hilton was born in San Antonio on December 25, 1887 and died on January 3, 1979 in Santa Monica, California. He’s best known as the founder of the Hilton chain of hotels. When he was young, Hilton worked in his father’s general store in Socorro County, New Mexico. He also spent time as a representative in New Mexico’s first State Legislature. He arrived in Texas at the height of the oil boom in 1919 with the intention of becoming a banker; instead, he purchased the 40-room Mobley Hotel in Cisco, Texas. The hotel was so successful that Hilton continued buying and building hotels throughout the state. These included the Dallas Hilton, opened in 1925; the Abilene Hilton in 1927; the Waco hilton in 1928; and the El Paso Hilton in 1930. Hilton strongly believed in the power of prayer, and credited his mother as instilling him with a great sense of faith that got him through the tough times during the Great Depression. Hilton built his first hotel outside of Texas in 1939 with the Hotel Andaluz in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Hilton continued expanding and at his highest point owned 188 hotels in 38 U.S. cities. He pursued other business opportunities, as well, purchasing the Carte Blanche Credit Company and interest in the American Crystal Sugar Company.
