Darts is a “sport” – some claim it is a game – mostly played in bars and requires little or no physical conditioning.

Soldiers are supposed to have invented darts by launching short arrows at chopped wood trunks or the bottom of casks.

As the wood cured, fractures formed, forming parts that gradually evolved into set scores, but with some regional and worldwide variety.

Darts are currently popular in many areas of the world, particularly in former Commonwealth nations like the Netherlands and Belgium, the United States, and Scandinavia.

The PDC and the BDO are the two primary professional governing organizations, with the latter having been in existence for longer.
