PC David Carrick Met Police Arrested For Rape In Stevenage
PC David Carrick, a Met police, has been arrested for rape. He was taken in a custody on October 2 for allegedly attacking a woman on the night of September 4, 2020.
This case was disclosed just three days after his former colleague was imprisoned in the case of Sarah Everard that also sparked public outrage.
Reports mentioned that Commissioner Cressida said that she is deeply concerned about the issue and is sure that the public will be too. She added that criminal proceedings will take place now and she cannot comment on the issue any further.
He is said to appear at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court through a video link at 10 am today. The Crown Prosecution Service said that all criminal proceedings against the defendant are active and he has a right to a fair trial.
In addition, there are not many details on the incident as the prosecutor has kindly reminded everyone that no news shall be shared in the media or online that could prejudice the proceedings.
What Are The Charges Against PC David Carrick?
PC David Carrick has rape charges against him by Hertfordshire Constabulary on Sunday. He was arrested on October 2 and charged with one count of rape on October 3.
He was based in Met’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command. And, he was off-duty on the day he was arrested at Hertfordshire. He was immediately suspended following his arrest.
Thus, the chief crown prosecutor, Malcom McHaffie, charged him with one count of rape for allegedly attacking a woman on the night of September 4, 2021.
Since there are not many details about what happened on that night, we do not have any updates regarding any other charges against him. It seems we need to wait for today’s court hearing to find out more about the case.
