Wendy Richard, who played Pauline Fowler in EastEnders for more than 20 years, has died today after a battle with cancer.
The 65-year-old soap star died in the Harley Street Clinic in London with her husband John Burns by her side.
Her agent Kevin Francis said: “She was incredibly brave and retained her sense of humor right to the end.”
Last October, Richard revealed she had an aggressive, terminal form of cancer. Soon after that, she married her long-term partner, John Burns, her fourth husband.
She had previously continued working on EastEnders through two bouts of breast cancer, shooting scenes in the morning and having radiotherapy in the afternoon.
She was given the all-clear the following year, telling The Irish News at the time: ‘I got the all-clear, I’m cancer-free, which is great, so now it’s all about recovery.’
But in June, she was tragically diagnosed with a brain tumor and kept her fans up to date with her cancer battle online.
