Paul Flores is a 44-year-old man who is suspected of the murder of the then 19-year-old Kristin Smart. He, along with his father, are the prime suspects of the crime as of now.
Moreover, several pieces of evidence direct toward the Flores. Susan Flores, Paul’s mother, was recently interviewed by KSBY News reporter Megan Healy in which she mentioned that her family is innocent.
Paul Flores Parents
The parents of Paul Flores are Ruben Flores and Susan Flores. Ruben and Susan have been lived in separate homes in the Arroyo Granc=de area for decades.
The prime suspect’s mother, Susan, was first interviewed on the 16th of March, 2021.
In the interview, Susan said that neither she nor any of her family members know about the disappearance of Kristin Smart. She said that her house had been searched now and then for the past 25 years. Her yard was dug, and recently her Volkswagen.
“I am mad because they took my Volkswagen! That is my little restoration project. I love cars. I love old things, and I wanted to do a restoration on that car. They didn’t need to take it. They wanted to take it. It’s private. They are coming in and taking your stuff.. at will…for any reason….you know, having a search warrant done, you think we’d be used to it, but it is violating. You know they are in your house, scattering your stuff”, she added.
Paul’s Father: Ruben Flores
Paul’s father, Ruben Flores, is an 80-year-old man as of 2021. He is suspected of having helped his son conceal the body of Kristin Smart.
Moreover, if Ruben gets convicted of the charges against him, he will have to face three years in jail. He will be released only after posting $50,000 bail in April.
Is Kristin Smart Murder Suspect Arrested?
Yes, the murder suspects are under custody at the San Luis Obispo Country Jail as of now. In fact, they won’t be bailed through the trial.
The judge, van Rooyen, announced that there are various pieces of evidence that lead to Paul and his father. Four cadaver detection dogs alerted Flores’ former dorm room.
Moreover, the dig investigators found disturbing soil the size of a body, as well as staining in the soil. Traces of human blood was also found.
Furthermore, Flores had control of the Arroyo Grande property, which again leads to a strong suspicion it was Ms. Smart’s remains.
The judge finally announced that if Paul s convicted, he would face life in prison. Similarly, Ruben’s father would be jailed for three years and could come out of custody after posting $50,000 bail in April.
