He was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in the pancreas. That was in January 2008. He expired from cancer on September 14th 2009. His last role was in the A&E TV series, The Beast. The show was aired on January 15th 2009. In high school, he was interested in athletics. Patrick shifted to NYC in the 1970s. He then received dance training at the ballet school in New York and later got his first professional gig with Disney on Parade. Swayze was then offered the role of Danny Zuko in the Broadway production “Grease”. In late 1970s, he made his film debut in the movie Skatetown, USA. However Patrick became really famous once he appeared in the 1983 film, “The Outsiders”. Over the years, Patrick Swayze has worked with stars such as Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Emilio Estevez, and Rob Lowe.

He got his well deserved recognition after the appearance in the 1985 miniseries, North and South. Swayze then appeared in the 1987 low budget movie, Dirty Dancing. He was paired opposite Jennifer Grey in this movie. Dirty Dancing was a huge success.
