Patrick Used To Travel Back And Forth To Be With His Son

Patrick Maroon has played in eight cities over the past 10 years and rarely spent time with his family. The Ice hockey player Patrick had fought his way from a sixth-round draft pick with the Philadelphia Flyers to Connor McDavid’s top winger with the Edmonton Oilers.

On weekends and holidays, he frequently visited his home county to be with his family whenever he got the chance. He tried to be the best father he could be from a distance. If there was nothing to say, the father and son would stare at each other during FaceTime calls. They have a lovely connection with one another.

There were times when Anthony would have to travel 16 hours by car with his grandfather to spend a long weekend together. On some occasions, Anthony watched his father play, such as when the Oilers visited the Blues in December 2016.

Patrick Took less Money To Play In Order To Live In The Same City As His Son.

Patrick began playing professional hockey shortly before Anthony was born, but his NHL dreams were never realized.

Father and son spent a lot more time apart due to stops in Philadelphia, Adirondack, Syracuse, Anaheim, Norfolk, Edmonton, and New Jersey, while Anthony stayed in St. Louis with his mother.

Being apart from Anthony seems to have affected Maroon the most out of all the difficulties he has faced throughout his career. He decided to turn down big offers and long commitments to play for his hometown team in St. Louis and spend more time with his family, especially his son.

Another deal with New Jersey was offered to him by his newest agent, but Maroon declined to be nearer to his son and return home.   Maroon agreed to a $1.75 million, one-year deal with his hometown St. Louis Blues on July 10, 2018.
