In 1984 when Patricia was giving birth, she had to lie to the doctors about the father’s whereabouts due to Trevor’s color. She went through a lot of trouble raising Noah cause it was had to hide his color as he went on growing up. She had to lie that she was Trevor’s parents’ maid in order to survive.
On one Sunday Patricia’s VW beetle broke down and she, Trevor, and his young brother Andrew had to board a bus to reach their destination. They boarded a bus where the driver was a Zulu man, a tribe that was against Xhosa. On realizing that Patricia was a Xhosa, he became aggressive and tried to kidnap them. Patricia had to throw Noah of the bus through the window to avoid him being a casualty of tribal war.

Patricia got a liking of Abel when she took her broken-down VW Beetle for repair in his garage. She then became fond of him and visited him often with Trevor. Abel was tall, handsome, and moderately funny but Trevor did not like him due to his violent behavior. Patricia, later on, agreed to marry Abel but Trevor was against it ever since their relationship.
Abel gained violence and would often beat up Patricia. She even had to move out of the house and reside in their shed due to his violent behavior. Trevor blamed his mother for she stayed with Abel even after his violence became worse. Patricia, later on, decided enough was enough and she left him and began a family with her new husband, whose name is unknown.
One Sunday years later Patricia was coming out of church when Abel showed up with a gun and threatened to shoot her on claims that she had ruined his life. Andrew, one of Patricia’s sons, tried to talk Abel out of it but he threatened to shoot him too. Andrew then withdrew and that was when Abel fired the gun hitting Patricia at the bottom. He tried to shoot her again several times but the gun constantly backfired. Patricia then took charge at him, stumbling him over and she ran for the car. Abel aimed the gun again at her and this time shot her in the head. Andrew then quickly rushed his mother to the hospital.
Miraculously, the shots fired at her had not hit any major organs and she survived.
