Pat Briggs is the main vocalist of the glam rock band Psychotica. Briggs was born in London, England. He also appeared in the film All Over Me, where he portrayed the character of homosexual rock singer Luke, and he was briefly linked with Bill Hastings. Apart from that, he played Tom Collins in the Rent adaptation produced by the New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW). Pat Briggs was important in the development of a theme night at Glitterdome, a nightclub in Atlanta that he founded. Sex, drag, and Rock & Roll were all part of the evening’s festivities. Pat would usually appear in the role of his alter-ego, Torment, and perform live with the Glitterdome band in his costume. It also included performances by other local drag queens from Atlanta, as well as some nationally recognised performers. Besides that, Pat had established a night in Los Angeles at the El Rey theatre called Club Makeup, which was the subject of a special documentary on the E! channel. In addition, he was the founder of Squeezebox, which was based in New York City.
Squeezebox! The film had its world debut on April 25, 2008, at the Tribeca Film Festival. Pat Briggs also performed and toured with a band known as the Impotent Sea Snakes for a short period of time in the 1980s. Carrie Hamilton, Carol Burnett’s daughter, was diagnosed with lung cancer in late 2001, and Pat was a close friend of hers at the time. Pat flew out of Atlanta and back to Los Angeles to be at her side during this difficult time. He spent nearly the whole year in Los Angeles with her and her family, assisting them in dealing with her sickness and supporting them. In January 2002, at the prompting of Miss Hamilton, he went to Atlanta to perform at the Glitterdome for a second time. On January 20, 2002, he received the devastating news that Carrie Hamilton had passed away shortly after his performance. Pat returned to Los Angeles and appeared in a six-page interview with Popular 1 magazine, which was published in the magazine’s November edition. Pat Briggs is shown in the piece in photographs that have never previously been seen. Psychotica’s return with Toxic Shock Records was announced just a few weeks after the interview was conducted, making it one of the most timely interviews ever conducted.
