On December 8, 1927, Parkash Singh Badal was born in Abul Khurana, a town close to Malout.
He was a member of a Jat Sikh family. Badal received his diploma from Lahore’s Forman Christian College.
In 1947, Badal began his political career. Before entering Punjab politics, he served as the village satrap of Badal and then as the chairman of the Lambi Block Samiti.
From the Shiromani Akali Dal political party, he first won election to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha in 1957.
As Minister for Community Development, Panchayati Raj, Animal Husbandry, Dairy, and Fisheries after being re-elected in 1969, he served.
