Paige began her career as an EMT to an International Sales Manager in Hong Kong. She quit the job and in 2011 she launched Simply Elegant Weddings. She was later self-taught about home improvement and construction.

The depression caused inexplicable crying fits, insomnia, and binge eating (that same year, she gained 25 lbs. in just two months). “It’s like someone turned the lights off and I was going through the motions in the dark. Give me a broken sink and I can fix it, but I couldn’t fix myself. I felt powerless.” Paige didn’t equate her symptoms to depression she just thought it was lethargy.

“I had this preconceived notion that if you were depressed, you were ready to commit suicide, I didn’t feel suicidal. Nothing gave me pleasure. I would withdraw because going out and putting on a fake smile was exhausting. I was constantly telling myself to snap out of it, I knew I should be eating better, but I didn’t have the strength to make a difference.”

Paige dealt with her depression by attending biweekly therapy sessions for six months and taking antidepressants until August 2008.
