Bill Dubuque is a well-known screenwriter for his interesting work in The Accountant, The Judge, A Family Man, and most recently, Ozark (jointly with Mark Williams). Its work on Ozark was so good that the team was nominated for the Writers Guild of America Award.
The first season of Ozark began streaming on Netflix with an hour-long episode on July 21, 2017. This series was created to be not only a crime drama, but also a tutorial on the subject of environmental conservation. money and finance. It was quickly accepted by audiences and several film critics, including Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, which has nothing but praise for it.
Netflix, being the smart giants that they are, seized on and renewed the drama for a ten-episode second season. Now fans and lovers are eagerly waiting for Ozark Season 3 by 2019 as announced on October 10, 2018. If you can’t wait, here is some basic information about the third season of the web series.
Ozark Season 3 – Plot and Background Details
This crime drama that originated in the United States and is both crime and crime has truly spread all over the world. Chris Mundy, the American writer credited for co-producing Criminal Minds, also holds the same credit alongside Bill Dubuque, Jason Bateman and Mark Williams for producing Ozark.
Media Rights Capital, a production house created by Asif Satchu and Mordecai Wiczyk owns the production rights to Ozark for Netflix. Additionally, Jason Bateman’s production company Aggregate Films is on the list of production companies for the web TV series alongside Zero Gravity Management, Headhunter Films, and Man, Woman & Child Productions. Aggregate Films was his sole producer, but it took bringing in others to ease Jason’s burden.
Most of the filming for Ozark is done in three tanks, namely; Lake of the Ozarks, Lake Lanier and Lake Allatoona. The Missouri-based reservoir, run by Ameren, Missouri, is home to a waterfront resort designed after the Alhonna resort in this TV drama. A popular shot of this resort is the sign bearing the Lake of the Ozarks welcome message. Interestingly, so far most of the films have been shot in Lakes Lanier and Allatoona, both located in Atlanta, Georgia (United States of America).
The Ozark series centers on Marty Byrde, a Chicago-based financial adviser whose business partner is killed by a drug cartel who is one of their biggest clients. The death sentence was imposed when Bruce, Marty’s partner, stole $8 million from their money laundering client and was arrested. Being a smart man and also not wanting to die with his family, Marty suggests moving the money laundering scheme to the Lake of Ozarks. He also promises to launder $500 million over five years for the cartel.
They quickly accept it, though amending it to suit their wishes, and Marty must uproot his family from their base in Chicago. Somehow he finds out that his wife, Wendy, is having an affair and her lover, Sugarwood, is killed by Del, the Mexican drug cartel lord who launders money and for whom he works.
The Lake of the Ozarks doesn’t turn out as easy as he thought, and Marty is faced with the challenge of finding business outfits to use as fronts for the Bleach Plan. When he decides to commit suicide so that his family can live on his insurance, he discovers a resort and the operations begin. Soon, a strip club joins him, and he begins planning to add a church. Marty hired a pastor (Mason Young) into his crime business when he tried to use his church to launder money, but unbeknownst to them, Snell (a local crime lord) was using him as a front for drug traffic.
Somehow Mason’s wife and mother of a newborn baby are killed by Snell and the plot continues to thicken. Marty seems to be asking for trouble as he pushes ahead in all of his endeavors. Oh yeah, the FBI is also looking to put the murder of his former partner and other people on him.
Jonah, Marty’s teenage son, tries to find his husband and his sister, Charlotte, inquires about their parents’ actions. Season 1 ended on a suspenseful note when Del and Snell (the leader of a second cartel that Marty was forced to work with) reached a deal (in the form of a casino) and a light began to appear at the end of the year. Marty’s otherwise dark tunnel. However, Del turns off the light when he “jokes” calls Snell a redneck, but it’s seen as an insult and he has to pay with his life.
The Byrdes are caught up in a series of crimes, deaths, blackmails, affairs, tricks, and what have you. The second season brings the casino to life as both a drug distributor and an anti-money laundering platform, while Marty, Wendy and her children drift away and find life again. Wendy, however, plays an important role when she goes behind Marty’s back to make direct contact with the cartel. And oh, here comes Marty’s seemingly budding affair with Rachel.
Ozark Season 3 will definitely bring more intrigue and drama with each episode. Marty is definitely going to have more problems from the cartel, the drug dealers and his wife. Also, there are no questions about the season with a new antagonist. With the deaths of Del in Season 1 and Jacob Snell in Season 2, it’s pretty obvious that Ozark Season 3 will introduce a new antagonist. But who would it be? Well, considering the fact that Jacob Snell, the heroine boss of the heroine was killed by his wife Darlene, the same woman who blamed Del for scolding him for insulting him, all eyes are on on her.
Meanwhile, we might see superwoman Wendy serve Marty a divorce paper, but will that really affect him when it comes to Rachel? Whatever season 3 of Ozark is, one thing is almost certain, the thrills will revolve around the Byrdes. At the end of the season, will Marty still be alive, who would still be alive? Does this season arrive with the happiness that Marty has so longed for? Really, we can only wait and see.
The cast of Ozark Season 3
Of course, we all know Jason Bateman is going nowhere, yet. As his wife Laura Linney succinctly puts it on the drama, Jason is the life of the show along with everyone else who’s been lucky enough to be a part of it. Can you really imagine Ozark without Marty? Given the escalating war with the Kansas City gang, the already thrilling one with the Ozark drug dealers, and the longest with the Mexican cartel, a future Ozark without him might be possible, but not the third season.
Laura Leggett Linney, an American actress, singer and multiple award winner played the role of Wendy Byrde from season 1 and with the turn of events in season 2 we can bet on the month’s salary in which she will also be in season 3, right? We’ll probably meet her as a woman running the family show or at most trying to.
Sofia Hublitz stars as Charlotte Byrde on the TV web series, as the daughter of Marty and Wendy Byrde. She almost committed suicide or so we thought in episode 9 of season 1, when she had experienced a kind of hypothermia. Luckily, she gained freedom and left the audience wondering what exactly happened there. Season 2 ended for Charlotte when she finally realized there was no escaping the family. Hopefully, she could make the next season all the more fun and dangerous.
Marty’s young son, Jonah Byrde was played by child actor, Skylar Gaertner, who we hope will have more to offer fans in the upcoming season. Jason is a lover of nature, violence, guns, and just a hint of crime. Ozark season 3 will definitely bring more of this character.
The Snells or rather, assassin husband Darlene should also be expected for season 3. Darlene (played by Lisa Emery) will no doubt try to recover what she lost to the Byrdes and who she will have to deal with, aside from Wendy. There is also the case of little baby Zeke taken from Mason Young and his also deceased wife. The future is female, right?
Additionally, the Langmore family is expected as a continuing cast on this crime drama. Ooh, this crime-laden family includes Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner), daughter of Cade Langmore (Trevor Long). She is also the niece of Russ Langmore (Marc Menchaca) and Boyd Langmore (Christopher James Baker), as well as the cousin of Three and Wyatt Langmore. Three is played by Carson Holmes and Wyatt by Charlie Tahan. Either way, the surviving Langmores will likely help spice up the drama in Ozark Season 3. Yeah, Cade and Russ died amid the violence in Season 2.
Fingers are definitely crossed on the cast of Ozark Season 3, as we really can’t say what Bill and Mark will be hitting us with in 2019. The trailer due a few months from now, however, might give a hint.
