Owen Daniels joined Naperville Central High School football team as a starting quarterback. He earned Prep Football Report and PrepStar All-American honors. During his junior year for the team, he completed 100 out of 168 passing attempts for 1,750 yards and 17 touchdowns.

In college, he played for the Wisconsin Badgers football team of University of Wisconsin-Madison. Daniels played in 43 games and 62 receptions for 852 yards. He entered the 2006 NFL Draft and was selected as the fourth round, 98th overall pick by the Houston Texans.

During his stint for the Texans, Daniels was a two-time Pro Bowl and recorded 11 receptions for 133 yards in 2008. After seven seasons with the team, he was released by the Texans on March 11, 2014.

He signed a contract with Baltimore Ravens less than a month after he left the Texans. Then, he agreed to the three-year contract and moved to Denver Broncos on March 10, 2015.
