Drummer and broadcaster from Wales, Owain Wyn Evans was born on March 9, 1984. Evans has been playing the drums since he was 7 years old.
Evans created a video in April 2020, during the beginning of the COVID-19 lockdown in the UK, showing himself drumming the BBC News theme right after giving a weather prediction.
The video gained popularity and was covered by news organizations all around the world.
During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, hundreds of musicians joined Evans for the local radio and television production Owain’s Big House Band, playing along to the original film from their own homes.
Evans finished a 24-hour drumathon on November 13, 2021, in aid of the charity Children in Need.
He drummed nonstop for 24 hours, beginning and concluding on BBC Breakfast (with a five-minute break every hour), while presenting the Drumathon iPlayer channel, engaging in conversation with other drummers, pleading with viewers to give, and recounting the experience.
