The series profiles the extended Kilcher family and their community outside Homer, Alaska. It also features the homesteaders living nearby the Kilcher family.

Begun by patriarch Yule Kilcher, a descendant of Swiss immigrants and Alaskan pioneers, and currently led by his kids, Otto and Atz, the family has lived on their land for over four generations.

The clan chooses to survive without modern technology and is engaged in farming and hunting for a living.

Season 11 of Alaska: The Last Frontier premiered on October 9, 2022.

Eivin Kilcher

Eivin, a third-generation homesteader, is the second child of the Alaskan couple. He is well-known for appearing alongside the Kilcher clan on Discovery Channel.

Like his grandfather, he built his own homestead with a single cabin and then focused on expanding his fields.

He is a knitting, fishing, hunting, former fire-fighting, Subaru driving, welding, knife making, slack-line walking, and all-around dedicated outdoorsman who is also a loving husband and father.

He and his wife, Eve, who also starred in the reality show, share two children, a son Findlay, and a daughter Sparrow Rose.

Kilcher regularly shares beautiful pictures of his family on his Instagram under the nametag @eivin_kilcher.

August Kilcher

August is the youngest and the only son of Otto and his current wife, Charlotte. He has been in the reality show for over a decade since 2012.

Following high school, he left the homestead and joined a college in the lower 48, only to realize he wasn’t cut out for such a conventional lifestyle.

He then returned to the homestead. Unlike his older brothers, he is yet to settle down and start a family. He is available on Instagram under the username @mister_ginger.

During a family special, which landed a week before Season 10 premiere, Otto talked about the growth he’s seen in his youngest son.

He gushed, “I’ve been watching August come into his own for a long time.”

August has proven to be a valuable asset to his parents and big brother, Eivin, who eagerly teaches him the ways of the last frontier.

Torrey Short

Torrey is Charlotte’s son from her previous marriage. He serves as an Alaska Wildland Firefighter.

The Alaskan native also practices yoga. He completed his 200-hour certification at Spirit Yoga last year in January.

He also gives yoga lessons from beginner to advanced.

His hobbies include surfing and running long distances. In August 2022, he finished his 5th 100-mile race “The Kodial 100” in Big Bear Lake, with a finishing time of around 33hr 25 minutes.

Short’s crew included his mother, his wife Dana, and a friend and pacer Todd Goode.

The runner is available on Instagram under the username @torreyshort, where he regularly shares pictures of his wife, dog, and other family members.

Otto Has Been Married Three Times

Otto Kilcher has been married to Charlotte for nearly three decades. Prior to her, he was married to Sharon, his second wife, and Olga, his first wife.

First wife Olga Von Ziegesar

Otto Kilcher married his first wife Olga in Alaska and lived there for several years until their divorce.

The former couple did not share any children together. Kilcher hardly speaks about his first marriage, so nothing much about their relationship is known publicly.

Ziegesar is active on Facebook, sharing loving pictures of herself with her family. She further uses the platform to post about her research work.

According to her bio, she works on data and writing in the winter. In summer, she splits her time between the garden and Prince William Sound Alaska, where she carries out her remote research camp.

She has documented the population of humpback whales that feed during summer for 35 years.

Olga often goes on camp and kayak trips in summer with the intention of finding marine mammals.

Second wife Sharon Mckemie

Kilcher took Sharon as his second legally married better half, not giving up hopes on love.

Unfortunately, their togetherness did not last long and the pair split in 1987.

The former couple welcomed their first child, Levi, in 1981, and the second child, Eivin, in 1984.

Current wife Charlotte Irene Adamson

Kilcher has been married to his beloved wife Charlotte for more than 25 years. She came to Alaska from Northern California to work as a wildlife biologist in 1978.

The pair first met in 1989 while working in South Central Alaska. After falling for each other, the pair embarked on a new adventure -building a family and life on the homestead in Alaska.

Adamson has been a lifelong tree hugger and lover of wildlife and nature.

A vegetarian since the young of 13, she was forced to adapt to homestead life where hunting and butchering cattle is the norm.

Accepting the self-sufficient life on Kilcher’s lead, she focused on gardening, raising ducks and chickens for eggs, milking the cow, and beekeeping for her contribution to the family food supply.

Her sons Torrey and August, and stepsons Levi and Eivin are her greatest joys.

She is found on Instagram under the username @charlottekilcher.

During the first episode of Season 11, Kilcher was critically mauled by an ox in a severe snowstorm.

On November 21, 2022, he shared a throwback post to the day of the cow trampedle.

He told that it was a fine day at the head of the bay. But soon things went sideways and he ended up being in a sled, then in an ambulance, then in a helicopter, heading for the hospital.

In the comments, fans reacted to his accident. “So many of us are thankful you are ok!,” one comment read. Another fan wrote, “Very happy that you are alive.”

Ultimately, he said it was a fantastic day with an unfortunate ending.

He added, “I’m blessed to be alive.” After recovery, Kilcher started promoting the season on social media and resumed his daily work on the homestead.
