Orf Moderator Roman Rafreider Betrunken Alcohol Youtube Video
Consequences for ORF star Roman Rafreider: After moderating the ZIB-Flash on Tuesday evening while inebriated, he was promptly suspended by ORF.
The anchorman apologized for his appearance and said it was due to “private circumstances” that did not affect the repercussions’ severity.
Rafreider has become one of Austrian broadcasting’s most recognizable faces for the past year. As usual, he was due to deliver a quick review of the news on Tuesday, soon before 10 a.m.
His facial expressions slid many times, he mumbled, and he had to hang on to the moderation table to keep it from tipping over.
Nobody in the studio recognized his condition, according to internal information, because Rafreider withdrew just a few minutes before the recording.
It was too late to alter anything after that. That happened only after the scandal: the ZIB night was rescheduled, and Martin Thür was found as a replacement.
Meanwhile, there are reasons for Rafreider’s undesirable behavior: according to testimonies from the moderator’s surroundings, he is now dealing with a harsh stroke of fate – and therefore “peered too deeply into the glass.”
In any event, the well-known ORF anchorman has been fired (for the time being). The HR department is currently investigating the situation and its legal ramifications.
