Early Life
The stunning model was born on the 1st of August, 1980 to Mr and Mrs Onweagba.
Her father was a civil servant while her mother worked as a nurse.
She has four siblings – two brothers and two sisters.
Career
Oluchi‘s career commenced in 1997 when she was 17 years old. Her friend encouraged her to enter for the M-Net Face Of Africa preliminary screening. The event was held at M-Net office, in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The agency was responsible for grooming her as one of Nigeria’s entrants for Face Of Africa Competitors, in 1998. This was the inaugural edition.
Luckily for her, she emerged the winner of the competition.
Soon after, she moved to New York and began appearing in editorials of magazines such as Vogue, Maire Claire, Allure, Nylon, Elle, Surface and many others.
She has walked the runaway for fashion brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Chanel, Gucci, Givenchy, Fendi, Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani, Nina Ricci.
She has also featured in ad campaigns for brands like Coca-Cola, Victoria’s Secret, L’Oreal, Banana Republic, Express, Gap.
Steven Meisel, David LaChapelle, Nick Knight are examples of some of the notable photographers she has worked with.
She launched a modelling agency in South Africa called, OModel Africa in 2008. They currently have offices in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
She is currently the host and head judge of the show, Africa’s Next Top Model.
Personal Life
Oluchi married an Italian Fashion designer, Luca Orlandi in 2008.
Their marriage is blessed with two sons.
The 40 year old is a volunteer with some NGOs in Nigeria such as LEAP Africa. Her goal is to inspire young adults, especially girls to pursue their dreams.
