Olivia Olson X-Factor

Olson’s first live show saw a controversial exit as both Ricki Lake and Olivia Olson were booted out of the competition and it seems viewers weren’t impressed with many switching off during the show.

X-Factor host Dermot O’Leary proudly declared the show was trending number one on Twitter after Olivia had taken to the stage to perform. However, it’s been revealed nearly 800,000 people switched off during the first live show. Fans were shocked this weekend when both Ricki and Olivia found themselves in the bottom three on Saturday night along with Martin Bashir.

While Ricki had the lowest votes from viewers, Olivia was booted off by the judges and broke down in tears. Unfortunately for Simon Cowell, it seems many didn’t make it to the end of the episode. According to Telly Mix, only 3.5 million viewers tuned in making it the least-watched live show in the overnight ratings.

However, there was some good news for the X-Factor. Ratings have revealed the show performed well in the 16-34 demographic. Fans should be reminded the overnight ratings don’t include those viewers who watched on catch-up or online. Following the live show, Olivia Olson took to Instagram to hit out at the judges online saying her elimination was like a “punch in the gut”.

She told her 48,600 followers: “I’ll keep smiling. I knew going into @thexfactor anything could happen & the level of talent was so high this year!“I’m grateful for the opportunity as it has completely pushed me out of my comfort zone, reminding myself I love to be up on that stage.“That being said, yes my elimination came as a shock. I was confused about why Simon would tell me I could win this competition and then ultimately send me home.

“It was a punch in the gut. People have emotions and mine got the best of me…because I REALLY wanted this.“I’m proud of my performance last night and that’s what matters to me. Good luck to all my new friends I’ve made along the way. OO out!”Meanwhile, Strictly Come Dancing fared much better in the rating war. The BBC series pulled in a staggering nine million viewers for its Halloween episode. However, the installment wasn’t without drama as both Will Bayley and Neil Jones had to pull out of the show.
