Ole Paus Biography
Ole Paus who was born on 9 February 1947; full name Ole Christian Paus, is a Norwegian troubadour in the Swedish-Norwegian ballad tradition, an author, a poet, and an actor. He is widely considered one of Norway’s most popular singer-songwriters. He has been described as the Norwegian counterpart of Bob Dylan and as the “voice of the nation.”

Ole Paus Artistic Work
Ole Paus debuted as a singer-songwriter in 1970 and as an author the following year, after he was discovered by Alf Cranner and Alf Prøysen, respectively. He was one of the central figures of the so-called visebølgen i Norge, i.e. troubadours in the tradition of Evert Taube, Cornelis Vreeswijk and others.
Visitor Alf Cranner was one of the first to hear the young pope’s show, and immediately called his own record company and demanded that they give Pope’s record contract. 23 years old he debuted with the album out there – inside . It has been said that Out there – setting the standard for Norwegian visual arts in the 1970s. Alf Cranner wrote an article where he did not hide from his great enthusiasm for the young performer.
Ole Paus has said that the family did not want him to do music: “It was a shame about the music performance. Fishermen did not exist at that time. I studied and pretended that I did everything else, but Alf said that the visions had value in themselves. I did not think so. ”
The album Garman (1972), which he recorded along with several musicians from Pussycat , stands as an early highlight in Pope’s production. He shows here a clear inspiration from Bob Dylan .
Alf Prøysen introduced Pope to the publishing age , and, like Alf Cranner, the Prøys did not save the superlatives. In 1971, Pope’s first book, poetry collection Tekster came from a staircase . In a series of records titled the Pope post , Ole Paus used the distinction to comment on social issues in ironic and often libelous ways.
Since the 1970s Ole Paus has often collaborated with Ketil Bjørnstad , and they have released several albums together. In 1998, they also published the book Reisen til Gallia, or it is typically Norwegian to be good . He has also collaborated a lot with Jonas Fjeld in the duo Rusty Herrer . From the 1990s, Ole Paus has had a productive collaboration with Erik Hillestad and Church Cultural Workshop , which has resulted in several records where Pope interprets hymns. The plate Salmer on the road home is a collaboration between Pope, Mari Boine Persen and Kari Bremnes . In It begins to be a life , Pope sings six own songs crossed with hymns by Hans Adolph Brorson .
If Henrik Ibsen’s relative has said Ole Paus: “I am fascinated by the blend of complete rebel and completely bourgeois in Ibsen. He speaks both the high-boring language and the anarchist language without accent. Impressive! ” Ole Paus announced that he would post as a record artist after a final triple album was released June 7, 2013. However, he has released several CDs, such as Frolandia (With Ketil Bjørnstad) and Singer from the boys room.
