Austin Simmons parents are dad David Simmons and a mom who graduated from the University of Miami. Simmons mother is a director of colleges.
His parents are big on education. Not only is his father a college football coach, but he also graduated from Virginia Union. Simmons paternal grandma has a Ph.D. and is retired.
Simmons is a baseball player first which is why college baseball was a big factor in him later choosing Ole Miss. He plans on playing college baseball and football. At Ole Miss, the football practice and baseball practice happen at different times so he can manage being a pitcher as well as a quarterback.
Growing up, his dad did not want him to play football as he was left-handed. David saw the future of his oldest son being a Major League baseball player. However, after Austin requested, he started teaching him the game.
Austin Simmons Dad Is A Football Coach
Austin Simmons dad David Simmons is a former Marina football player who played for eight years with the league. He was also the head coach.
David is a football coach with multiple championships under his belt from different high schools and pro leagues. Believe it or not, Coach Simmons was a professional highlight player at Magic City and is from Jacksonville, Florida.
Dave was hired as a defensive coordinator by Pahokee interim coach Emmanuel Hendrix in April 2021. In May 2022, Austin’s father served as an interim head coach.
He has also coached at UFL and was Austin’s coach while he was growing up. David taught his son things that he grew up on in terms of football, which is why the young athlete is “cerebral”. His father likens him to Peyton Manning, Dan Marino, and Joe Montana.
When the Ole Miss quarterback was small, Simmons would take his kid to his meetings at UFL. Unknowingly, the child picked up on a lot of things including the offense verbatim. He knows the Don Schuler offense.
Baseball Had Austin Simmons Switching To Ole Miss

In May 2023, Simmons helped True North Classical Academy win 5-2 against Trinity Christian Warriors in the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Class 2A quarterfinal round. Trinity Christian has won FHSAA six times.
He is competitive and only wants to pitch against the big teams. At True North, he only pitched against the state-ranked teams.

According to his dad, Austin is a multi-sports talented athlete who could be drafted in the MLB draft. Patrick Mahomes, AJ Brown and Tom Brady are some NFL players who were also drafted in the MLB.
Simmons switched to Ole Miss so he could play both football and baseball. Ole Miss had needs for pitchers so he will be able to fit in the rotation straight away. The move was strategic on his family’s part as they took in his future to enter the MLB draft.
He wants to be a pitcher only on the roster as he is spinning out baseballs at 90-plus mph. In January 2023, he talked about setting his schedule around football to play baseball.
“I feel like my schedule is going to be based on baseball season. I could set my schedule around spring football, so I can play baseball as well.”
