Iconic actress Octavia Lenora Spencer was born in Montgomery, Alabama in the United States on May 25, 1970. She was the second to last of seven children born to her parents. She was raised by her mother Dellsena Spencer who worked as a servant and her father died when she was thirteen.
During her childhood, Octavia attended Jefferson Davis High School, and after graduating in 1988, she enrolled at Auburn University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in liberal arts.

After graduating from college, Octavia Spencer began her acting career when she worked as an intern on the set of the movie titled The Long Walk Home. The film starred famous actress Whoopi Goldberg and was released in 1996.
