Jean Bishop ‘Bee Lady’ has passed away at the age of 99. What is the cause of her death? Everything you need to know.
Jean Bishop, widely known as the bee lady from Hull, has recently passed away. She used to wear a giant bee costume to raise funds for helping people in need.
She became the bee lady by total accident when she borrowed the outfit after retiring. The outfit was given to her by the Age UK. She tried to make an impact in the world with her deeds.
Soon after, she became a loved figure in the UK. She started fundraising after her husband’s death. Her unique dress helped her become a mascot for helping the less fortunate.
After that, her daughter made a different version of the bee outfit from 3 hula hoops rings and fabric from a charity shop.
Bee lady had been raising funds for more than 20 years of her life. In 2017, the queen of England recognized her efforts. She was awarded the British Empire Medal in the same year.
In 2018, she opened a care center that provided critical treatments for older people in Hull.
As of 2020, she raised £115,000 in charity for the Age Uk. Also, earlier this year, she was granted the Freedom of Hull title. She is the second woman to receive the honor.
