Allison passed away peacefully on September 1, 2021. The unfortunate news was confirmed by WGN-TV last Saturday.

The anchor reportedly took her last breath at her home in Detroit. She was only 57 years old.
Allison Payne Death Cause – How Did She Die?

For the past decade, Payne had been dealing with myriad health problems. As a fact, her medical condition was the main reason behind her absence from the anchor desk.
In 2008, Allison suffered from mini-strokes in both January and August. At the same time, the reporter also announced that she was seeking treatment for depression. Eventually, she took an indefinite leave from WGN with ongoing health issues.
After 2 years, Payne opened about her alcoholism. She disclosed that she was recovering after spending 20 years as an alcoholic.
The problems didn’t stop here. Allison again went on hiatus from WGN in 2010 due to problems in her vocal cords. The next year, she consequently ended her contract with the network.
It is evident that the anchor dealt with both physical and mental health issues. But, the real reason behind her untimely demise is still not confirmed.

Allison Payne Husband – Was She Married?
Late Allison Payne was previously married to her husband Don Riggs.
But, the marriage didn’t last long. The couple privately parted ways after some years due to personal differences.
It was later rumoured that Payne had found comfort in the arms of Bobby Richardson. However, the relationship between the two was never confirmed.
