O. T Genasis was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Odis Flores on June 18, 1987. However, he was brought up in Long Beach, California. His parents were refugees from Belize.
Since attracting the eye of the billionaire with his track ‘Jackie Chan,’ he was first signed to 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records in 2011. Later on, in 2012, he launched his debut mixtape named “Black Belt” He joined Conglomerate Records, which is operated by Busta Rhymes, after being dropped from the label. As he came in during one of Genasis’ shows, Busta discovered him and was drawn to the enthusiasm he brought from the audience.
Genasis lost “Touchdown” under the mark, which includes appearances from Busta himself and Montana in French. “Over songs such as “No Flex Zone” and “Loyal,” he even dropped a variety of well-received freestyles.
Genasis takes pride in not providing a region-based tone, relying on a wealth of influences, from the infectious hooks and basslines of Atlanta to the poignant predecessors of autobiographical lyricism that record life on the West Coast. “I’m from the West Coast, but you can hear in my songs that they don’t really sound like they’re from there,”I am from the West Coast, but you can hear in my songs that they don’t really sound like they are from there. “I like to put myself in the position where I’m like I can give the [listener] everything and make a record that sounds like it could be from anywhere.”
“After eliminating “CoCo,” Genasis got his best break in 2014. The hit, his most successful song to date, has peaked at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. It has also topped the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs and Rap Streaming Songs by Billboard. Genasis re-shot a new music video for the sigle thanks to the popularity of the sigle and launched it in early 2015.
“That s**t [‘CoCo’] is crazy… The great thing about ‘Coco’ is that for anybody who hears it, it just sticks. Everybody automatically just f**ks with it, so me promoting it and doing all that I can for it is going to be a plus,” he clarified.
