As Director of Government Affairs for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, she lobbied on behalf of Cleveland school children at both the federal and state levels.
In 2001, she ran for office in Cleveland City Council Representative for Ward 1, but incumbent Joe Jones was re-elected, although he resigned three years later in November 2004.
