The 34-year-old said in a video posted to her Instagram page on Friday that she was diagnosed with an autoimmune illness years ago that she had been unable to control until lately.
One of the reasons she indicated she left the series was because of the disease, which she didn’t mention for the time being.
There are a lot of misconceptions about when individuals have health difficulties and constraints, and she believes putting limitations and boundaries can get you demonized.
But she doesn’t think that’s something we should allow to happen to our bodies as women, as people of color.
It’s fascinating to hear this now because when news of Beharie’s departure from the series came, there was a lot of speculation about why.
