Nick Young is a professional basketball player who became notorious for a series of extrajudicial incidents while with the Los Angeles Lakers, one of which led to the popular Confused Nick Young meme.
A native of California, he describes himself as The Prophet of Swag, hence the nickname Swaggy P. He is a versatile player who can play in all positions except as a marksman and small forwards. Young currently plays for the Golden State Warriors where he is hoping to win his first NBA championship.
biography
Nick Young was born to Mae by Nicholas Aaron Young and Charles Young Snr. on June 1, 1985 in Los Angeles, California. He attended Grover Cleveland Charter High School in Reseda, California where he appeared prominently for their basketball team. In his senior year, Young was outstanding, averaging 27.2 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. He managed a 57.3% field shooting percentage and a 46.8% three-point shooting percentage, earning him the San Fernando Valley team’s first honor.
basketball career
Young received offers from numerous colleges, however, he decided to attend the University of Southern California to play for the Trojans. In his junior and sophomore years, he was named to the All-Pac-10 First Team. At the 2007 NCAA tournament, he led his team to the round of the Sweet Sixteen, where they were beaten by top-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels. After that year, Young decided to turn pro, finish his senior year and enter the 2007 NBA draft, where he was selected in the first round with the Washington Wizards’ 16th overall pick.
Nick Young played a total of 75 games for the Wizard as a rookie, but only from 2. He averaged 7.5 points in 15.4 minutes per game. Young made 335 appearances for the Wizards between 2007 and 2012. His most notable game for the team came on January 11, 2011 in a game against the Sacramento Kings in which he scored a career-high 43 points.
The following season, Young returned to Los Angeles, but this time with the Lakers, where he averaged 17.9 points per game in his debut season under coach Mike D’Antoni. His performances led to him landing a multi-year deal with the franchise, which would see him play alongside Kobe Bryant in his hometown until 2017.
After D’Antoni’s departure and a couple of injuries that kept him out of action, Young struggled to get some quality playing time under coach Byron Scott, who has since rightly spoken of his dissatisfaction. He was later revived under rookie head coach Luke Walton but chose to leave the team as he did not exercise his option to extend his contract at the end of the 2016–17 season.
In July 2017, the now unrestricted free agent signed with the Golden State Warriors, with whom he now hopes to win his first NBA championship.
Nick Young’s Net Worth (Income and Earnings)
Nick Young is said to have a net worth in the region of $8 million, which he earned from salaries and endorsements during his 10+ year NBA career. Young is set to receive $5.2 million in his new one-year contract with the Warriors.
With that wealth, it’s no surprise that Young can afford to live a lavish lifestyle, paying $3.4 million for a house and owning cars like a Ferrari, a BMW 7 Series, and a 1962 Chevy Impala.
His girlfriend and baby mom
It’s not clear if Nick Young is serious about the relationship at the moment. He was previously engaged to Australian rapper Iggy Azalea in 2015 and reportedly splashed $500,000 on a diamond engagement ring. Azalea later ended the engagement after Young cheated on her with his baby mom, Keonna Green.
Green, the mother of Young’s first child, Nick Young Jr. announced that the couple is expecting a second child, conceived during his engagement to Azalea. Young and Green met in high school. She was a cheerleader while he was on the basketball team.
