Do NFL Players Get Paid For Preseason Games?

Yes, NFL players are paid for the preseason games. The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) has fixed a $1,850 weekly payment for rookies.

The veterans receive a weekly wage of $3,200 during the preseason. The pay scale is calculated from the first day of preseason training camp to the Sunday before the regular season kickstart.

Every player, whether a first-year rookie or a seasoned veteran, is subjected to receiver per-diem. It includes weekly pay, meal, and accommodation.

The amount will be reimbursed if the players pay for the meal during the travel with their franchise. The uniform reimbursement is $38 for breakfast, $48 for lunch, and $66 for dinner.

If a player is levied from the squad during the training camp, they get a fraction of the wages as a part of the salary continuation benefit scheme.

Likewise, those who do not make the final cut can be enlisted in the practice squad. They can make a $207,000 average salary in the regular season.

Being in the practice squad can help them make it into the main roster, as an athlete from the practice team can be elevated three times throughout the 18-week period.
