NFL Bud Light commercial for the Fourth of July featured Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Anheuser Busch has been affiliated with the NFL since the 1990s.
They have a good relationship with the organization and have continuously paid chunks of money for promotion.
One of their brands, Budweiser, spent $25.6 million for a commercial spot in the Super Bowl LVI. A year prior, they spent 19.2 million dollars.
Likewise, they spent a whopping $26.5 million in 2023. They are the most prominent advertisers as well.
In the past years, the beer brewing company has renewed its contract and has been continuously involved with the league.
Different strategies, events, advertisements and promotions have been critical factors in reaching the audience. Including NFL athletes certainly helps meet the goal.
Travis Kelce Bud Light Commercial 2023
Travis Kelce Bud Light commercial was released on 2nd July 2023. The 15-second advertisement is titled ‘Backyard Grunts with Travis Kelce.’
It has collected 332K views on YouTube at the time of writing.
The video starts with Kelce taking a seat and grunting. He is then followed by several ordinary people easing themselves into different seats.
Some have a Bud Light can in their hands while they find a comfortable place to enjoy the beer, while some ease themselves first and then crack open the beer.
The clip follows the lettering ‘Easy to Drink, Easy to Enjoy.’ It helps to target its primary consumers for the summer.
Throughout the running time, one can notice that the Tight End is only making his appearance. He neither drinks nor touches the product.
The commercial was released a couple of days before the Fourth of July and is the only one after the controversial March Madness promotion, which we will discuss later.

The QB stuck by the rules, and the company used surrogate advertising to make everything work out.

Commercial Controversy

It did not sit well with many people and sparked great controversy. Netizens took it to the internet and claimed the move to be atrocious.
Many believed it promoted gender propaganda and missed the mark with their targeted audience.
Alissa Heinerscheid, during an interview on 30th March, claimed that the brand need to bring in young drinkers to help save the brand value. The decision to include Mulvaney seems like their trump card to engage more youthful demographics.
The beer company defended its decision and called it their way of connecting with a diverse audience. They stated, “From time to time we produce unique commemorative cans for fans and brand influencers like Dylan Mulvaney.”
The company attempted to celebrate Dylan’s 365 Days of Girlhood, and the can with her picture is not for public sale.
