The former wide receiver has been charged with driving under influence (DUI). The accident took place on his street in Mt. Washington.
The police responded to the scene before 11 p.m. and found Lipps drunk behind the wheels. He had trouble speaking and standing at the crash scene.
The officer could smell alcohol on his breath and asked him to do a sobriety test. However, Lipps said he would fall and declined to take the test.
Lipps was then taken to the police station and a sobriety test was performed an hour later with his consent. The result showed his blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit.
The news of his arrest came a week prior he was supposed to be inducted into the Steelers’ 2021 Hall of Honor class at Heinz Field.
He was detained for two misdemeanors DUI charges. He is already released and is set to appear for his preliminary hearing on November 22.
