Jets Radio Announcers include Bob Wischusen and Marty Lyons for the 2023 season. Anthony Becht and Gregg Buttle will call pre and post-games.
Dan Graca is also on the list to be on the pre and post-game show. The New York Jets have already played their first regular season game on 11 September against the Buffalo Bills which were called by the aforementioned two radio casters.
Radio broadcasting for the Jets game began in 1962 through WABC which was their flagship station at that time. During that year Bob Murphy was calling the game play-by-play.
Currently, you can tune into ESPN New York 98.7 FM in order to listen to the weekly interviews of the Jets players and the head coach of the team.
There are various pre- and post-game you can listen to on the official radio station of the New York Jets including ‘Jets Countdown to Kickoff’ 2 hours prior to the game, and ‘Jets Fifth Quarter’ which airs after the completion of each game.
The ‘Countdown to Kickoff’ is hosted by Greg Buttle and Dan Graca which comes live for two hours before the start of each game of the NY Jets each season.
Jets Radio Broadcasters
Broadcaster Wischusen is in the play-by-play role at present and Lyons fills the chair for color analyst. They have been with the Jets for 20 years now.
Bob Wischusen
Wischusen joined WABC in 1997 but took over the play-by-play announcer role in 2002. Earlier that year, Howard David who had been on duty since 1998 left the station.
The commentator was born on 1 October 1971 and grew up in New Jersey. He currently comments on hockey, NBA, and college football and is the voice for the Jets WEPN-FM.
The Boston College attendee began his sportscasting career associating with WZBC. His graduation in 1993 was followed by his appendage with WQAM, a sports radio in Miami.
The sportscaster began his work at WFAN as a reporter and later started hosting pre-, halftime, and post-game shows for the team. Bob followed WABC when WFAN lost rights to the team’s coverage after the 1998 season.
Besides, he began working with ESPN in 2006 in the role of a secondary commentator providing his remarks in college football, basketball, and other varieties of sports across the country.
Marty Lyons
Lyons paired with Wischusen the same year when he was assigned the play-by-play role i.e. in 2002. Marty is a former American football defensive tackle and defensive end.
The former DT played his entire professional career in the NFL for the New York Jets. He was drafted by the team in the 1979 NFL Draft in the first round. The former footballer played 11 seasons with the team and appeared in a total of 147 games.
Having played football exceptionally, Lyons currently chairs the Marty Lyons Foundation which he established himself, and is one of the voices in the Jets radio.
His association with the radio is followed by the mysterious firing of Dave Jennings who was considered a smart and credible analyst at that time. The release of Jennings from 14 years of career is best guessed as a result of the re-evaluation of the broadcasting booth by the team.
Lyons served his first tenure at the station from 2002 to 2008 and his second term began in the same year and is still accompanying the play-by-play caller in providing color analysis in the matches.
