According to New York City officials, a boat overturned on the Hudson River, killing a lady and her kid, but saving the lives of nine other passengers were quick-reacting ferry personnel.
After being dragged out of the water by first responders, the unnamed mother and 7-year-old son were pronounced dead, NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell announced at a press conference.
New York Boating Accident Mysery: 2 Dead And 12 On Board
On Tuesday in New York City, a privately chartered boat carrying 12 passengers sank on the Hudson River, killing a seven-year-old kid and a 20-year-old woman.
According to ABC 7, emergency services, harbor, aviation, and dive units were sent to save the 12 persons reportedly on board a private recreational sailboat.
The boat overturned and fell into the river, according to the New York Police Department and NY Waterways, at 3 o’clock.
According to a NY Waterways representative, two of the company’s boats helped rescue nine passengers from the sinking ship.
The names of the people who were on the boat are unknown, and the authorities have not yet released any new information.
Hudson River Deadly Accident
According to NYPD Assistant Chief James McCarthy, relatives and friends had leased a jet boat. Likewise, the boat’s owner was riding a jet ski behind it.
The NYPD opened an inquiry to determine what caused the event, the boat’s capacity and how many people were actually on board when it was capsized.
McCarthy said that when the boat capsized, the two deceased victims were pinned beneath it.
According to reports, the boat was launched just across the Hudson from Weehawken, New Jersey.
When the NYPD Harbor Patrol reached the accident site at Pier 86 at West 46th Street, they discovered the capsized boat and saved two people who were dangling from it.
The mom and kid, who had been pronounced dead, were recovered from the ocean by scuba divers.

The youngster was brought to Bellevue Hospital, while the lady was transferred to Roosevelt Hospital, according to the police.
Police reported that two persons were retrieved from the water in critical condition. Unfortunately, both later passed away.
Nine people merely received minor injuries, while a third individual had a critical but not life-threatening injury.
According to NYPD Commissioner Sewell, divers from the New York Fire Department helped with the rescue efforts and pulled the youngster from the water.
