A new TikTok video reveals this in an experiment they conducted, and this has left netizens to go in shock. A small daily ritual-like thing is a complete no-no after that. People say that it is better to shake our wet hands rather than use the machine.
No matter how much a certain section of people criticizes TikTok, the positives it has cannot be denied. It is actually quite entertaining and informative if used in the right way for the right purposes. This video proves that.
New Air Dryer Video From Tiktok Reveals Germs
A TikTok account named PhoneSoap posted a video named “How germy are hand air dryers” on 12th July. It is an experiment conducted using a rough case-control method of study. An object is used multiple times in different locations to track the germs the air hand dryer contains generally.
First of all, the Petri dish is shaken and dried without using the machine. This one is taken as control. After that, one of them is dried in a store, another one in a movie theater, and the last one at a gas station.
All of them are left to get cultured in an incubator for three days. Then, when it is checked one by one, the results are actually shocking, to say the least. The hand-dried one was found to be clean without any germs. The petri dish at the gas station looked horrible, with germs all over. Similarly, the one at the store was a little better but not satisfactory, and it was the same in the movie theater.
This was quite unexpected. We use hand dryers for the purpose of keeping our hands clean, but the reality is totally different. People seem cheated, and most of them have realized it is a bad idea to use the machine no matter how late you are for anything. It is somewhat like the researchers have opened the public’s eyes wide to see what they have invited for themselves.

Just after the experiment was put out on TikTok for the world the see, the word just spread, and everyone wanted to know the reality of it. If you just go through the video, you can clearly see how bad it is. The air hand driers are really dirty.
A TikToker named Zach says, “I’ve stopped using air dryers after I heard them described as “the wind of a thousand farts” Further, another one in the comments section says, “This is why I hate when places only have hand dryers bc I prefer using a paper towel so I can turn off the sink & open the door w/o touching.”
However, this is not the first time the test has been done on the same page. The last time when they put out the video, they had no ‘control’ but only the ‘case.’ Two Petri dishes they used in two different machines showed how gross they were. The growth was pretty disturbing to view then also.
