It is a condition where the affected person hears rhythmic throbbing like the heartbeat in both ears. It happens when the ear discovers a change in blood flow in nearby blood vessels, including the arteries and veins in the base of the skull, neck, and ear itself. It makes more noise when the blood flow is quick, like a strenuous exercise.
Neil had his first diagnosis back in 2021 while competing in Cazoo World Grand Prix. He seems to be well over the worst part of this unpleasant condition.
Nevertheless, the illness made him feel like walking in a bouncy castle. When he was building up for the defense of the U.K. Championship, tinnitus hit him up. Doctors had him on steroids for a week, which ultimately led him to pull out of the Scottish Open.
A few weeks into it, he still had a little bit of ringing in the morning, but not as bad as it was. Similarly, the pulsing also stopped at that point. He had a slow recovery, gradually extending his practice time.
