Liangelo Ball Signs With Charlotte Hornets Joining His Brother Lamelo Ball’s Team

LiAngelo Ball agreed to a non-guaranteed one-year contract with the Charlotte Hornets on Monday, as stated by the league and The Charlotte Observer reports.

Joining the team just in time for training camp that starts on Tuesday at the Novant Health Training Facility, LiAngelo and his younger brother LaMelo are back together.

He shared that with this team, he feels like a squad member and will play his best. Rather than talking on how to do it, he stated that his performance will speak for itself, and he hopes to join the team and play with his brother.

After signing him, the Hornets’ roster increased to the permissible number of 20. Meaning that they would need to waive someone to make room for another player. Players like Miles Bridges and others on non-guaranteed agreements are the most likely candidates.

LiAngelo was a member of the Hornets’ summer league roster and participated in three contests after being placed under the NBA’s health and safety guidelines immediately before the club left Charlotte for Las Vegas.

According to Hornets coach Steve Clifford, Ball spent most of his summer there, doing most of the exercises, and is helpful to the team.

Clifford got a close-up look at Ball’s strict style during those sessions at the Novant Health Training Facility over the past weeks. The 23-year-old player performed well in the eyes of the team administration to guarantee a training camp contract.

Similarly, he was able to have it all by spending time with LaMelo and pursuing his love of basketball. Just recalling their times together in Charlotte made him grin.

The Ball brothers enjoy their moments of playing together as they remember their time playing basketball while growing up. LiAngelo even claimed that, their combo will shine in the NBA as well.

LaMelo Ball Has Been Playing For The Charlotte Hornets Since 2020

LaMelo Ball, now joined by his brother LaAngelo has been playing for The Charlotte Hornets since 2020. The Hornets picked him in the third round of the 2020 NBA Draft.

Likewise, he also won the NBA Rookie of the Year award in 2021, which got him selected by the NBA as an All-Star in 2022.

He attended Chino Hills High School in California and signed with the Lithuanian professional team Prienai before his junior season after leaving Chino Hills due to a coaching disagreement.

The 21-year-old player participated in the Junior Basketball Association (JBA), a league his father founded, in 2018, before enrolling at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, as a senior.

In addition, LaMelo was a five-star recruit who committed to UCLA but decided to skip playing college basketball due to eligibility issues and play in Australia’s National Basketball League (NBL) instead.

From there, he had a rapid rise, going from being projected as the first overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft to being selected third overall. On his way to winning NBL Rookie of the Year, scouts had mocked Ball as a second-round pick and possibly never made it to the NBA, but they all become stubbed as he joined Charlotte of the NBA in 2020.
