Natalia LL’s net worth was approximately $5 million at the time of her death.
She made this wealth through her painting, photography, drawing, performance, and video art.
Raised in Bielsko-Biała, Natalia received her Msc. from the State College of Fine Arts (now the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts) in Wrocław in 1963. She then earned a diploma from the Association of Polish Art Photographers in 1964.
A conceptual artist and photographer, Natalia LL was associated with the avant-garde scene of the 1960s in Poland.
Through photography and video she deconstructed single-frame photographs and satirizes the images that were presented in advertising, television, and print in the 1970s and 1980s. Her series, Consumer Art (1972–1975), depicts close ups of women eating and biting foods like bananas, sausages, and melons.
In 1970, Natalia LL co-founded PERMAFO, an artists’ group and gallery, with Zbigniew Dłubak and Andrzej Lachowicz.
Following a serious illness in the late ’70s, the artist turned her focus from consumerism and pornography to mythological subjects.
From 2004 to 2013, Natalia LL served as a senior lecturer at the University of Fine Arts in Poznań.
In 2018, the ZW Foundation was founded to preserve the works of Natalia LL as well as to provide a “place for exchanging scientific ideas and creative thoughts”.
Her work is held in the collections of the International Center of Photography, New York; the Musée National d’Art Moderne, Paris; the Museum of Decorative Arts, Prague; the Ludwig Museum, Cologne; Museum Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf; and the National Museums in Gdańsk-Oliwa, Poznan, Warsaw, and Wrocław, and many other institutions across the globe.
