Introduction
Gracyanne Barbosa is a bodybuilding inspiration for many, despite not being a bodybuilder herself. This woman has a body that has captivated many, and her intensive workouts brought her to fame. Was being a model on Instagram always her desired career – is she using steroids?
Early life and education
Gracyanne Jacobina Barbosa Vieira was born on 20 September 1983, in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil.
She grew up with her mother, Ledir Jacobina, and her sister, Giovanna Jacobina; there is no disclosed information about her father. From elementary school, she was a huge fan of sports, and became skilled in gymnastics. After completing her early education in 1999, she moved to Rio de Janeiro to attend law school when she was only 16 years old. However, she experienced some financial problems, so to earn enough money to survive, she began dancing, and completely dropped out of law school in 2000, after completing only one semester.
Dance Career
At the beginning of her career, Barbosa joined the axé dancing group called Tchakabum. She toured with the group for the next nine years, traveling all around Brazil. She kept fitness training during her free time, and her good physique quickly gained recognition, and in 2007 she was even featured on the December cover of the Brazilian Playboy magazine.
In 2008, Barbosa left Tchakabum to pursue a modeling career, and to further take care of her body.
She became a Drum Queen (known as ‘Rainha de Bateria’ in Portuguese) for many Brazilian carnivals, and quickly rose to become a celebrity in her home country. In December 2011, she was on the cover of Brazilian magazine called Revista Sexy.
Online Career
In 2012, Barbosa joined the social media platform, Instagram, on which she would post her workout routines. Her figure quickly attracted millions of followers, and she became a star on the internet.
The workout video posted by her in which her squat weight of around 450lbs (204kg), left the bodybuilding community in shock. Many even suspected that the weight shown on the video was fake, but she denied the accusations.
As of May 2020, Barbosa has over 8.4 million followers on Instagram. She is the brand ambassador of several fitness-related brands, such as MetaboliTea, plus she founded her own fitness clothing brand. On her profile, she usually posts motivational photographs, workout regimes, and photos of her face and body. She is signed to Smart Producoes, and her managers are Carol and Natalia.
Personal Life
Barbosa met the famous Brazilian singer, Marcelo Pires Vieira, in 2009. Better known by his stage name Belo, his hits include “Belo Ao Vivo”, “Seu Fa Ao Vivo” and “Procura-se Um Amor”. Before meeting Barbosa, he was married to Viviane Araujo, another Brazilian Drum Queen, and Barbosa’s acquaintance. This made many media try to source gossip about the antagonism between the two dancers, but neither of them ever commented about each other. Barosa and Belo dated in secret for a while, before marrying on 18th May 2012.
The wedding was held at the Candelaria Church located in Rio de Janeiro and the ceremony was public; as of May 2020, the couple doesn’t have any children.
Barbosa has been accused of having several plastic surgery processes done on her body, most notably to have had breast augmentation surgery, as her chest has grown a lot from the time she posted her first photos. She is also accused of having a rhinoplasty (‘nose-job’), blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) and several buttock lifts, or even a full-blown implant on her rear side. Barbosa herself has never denied nor admitted to ‘going under the knife’.
Many people have also stated that her muscles can’t be completely natural, and that she is most likely using steroids – she’s refused to comment on these rumors as well. As she is not a professional bodybuilder and she doesn’t have to have doping tests, it is a question whether or not the truth will come out.
Another social media platform that Barbosa is active on is Twitter, with over 240,000 followers.
Net worth
Barbosa earns most of her money from her social media accounts, as she has a lot of brand deals and sponsorships on Instagram.
She also has her own clothing line, offers samba and salsa dance lessons from time to time, and participates at several Carnivals in Brazil. As of May 2020, her net worth is estimated at around $28 million.
Physical characteristics and Workout Routine
Gracyanne Barbossa is a tall, muscular woman who stands at a height of 5ft 9ins (1.76m), weighs around 154lbs (70kgs), with vital statistics of 34-27-40. She has tanned skin, dark hair, and black eyes.
Her well-defined physique is a result of her workout routine, as she works out five days a week and rests during the weekend. On Mondays and Thursdays she exercises her legs, on Tuesdays and Fridays she focuses on her posterior muscles, and on Wednesdays she does her back, arms, chest, and shoulder exercises. She is also on a strict high-food intake diet, which involves up to six daily meals made-up mostly from lean proteins, complex carbs and healthy fats, while keeping her glucose levels low.
