Having done some acting in his native Chicago and New York, Walter started his Star Trek tenure as a guest shot. But thanks to creator Gene Roddenberry, his seemingly short-lived appearance on the series was translated into enthusiastic and accident-prone Chekov in its second and third seasons. Koenig reprized the role in six of the theatrical “Trek” films (from The Wrath of Khan in 1982 through Generations in 1994), fetching him a bit more fame with each subsequent film. In addition to his “Trek” immortality, he also appeared in another sci-fi TV show called Babylon 5 (1994-98). In 1998, he published his autobiography, Warped Factors: A Neurotic’s Guide to the Universe, which is unveiling his life story in a well-written manner. Walter’s contributions to the industry made him earn the 2,279th star of the Hollywood Walk of Fame on September 10, 2012.
